Location: New Testament

Author: Paul

When: Sometime between 60 and 62 A.D. Paul was in prison. He wrote several letters to churches while he was in prison that are found in our New Testament. He had never met the Colossians, but only heard of their faith.

Where: Colossae is located in what is today Turkey. Today, Turkey is a Muslim majority country, but at the time, it was part of the Roman Empire. The area had been colonized by the Greeks (so many had Greek culture and spoke Greek) and later incorporated in to the Roman Empire. Asia Minor quickly became the heart of Christianity. Many of the early churches were there (Colossae, Laodicea, Ephesus, etc.).
